THE PATTERSON HOMESTEAD
The Patterson Homestead, dating back to the 1800s, is not only one of Dayton's most haunted places but also among Ohio's most ghostly locations. Reports abound of furniture moving on its own, phantom dinners being cooked, and sightings of Colonel Robert Patterson and his wife. Ghostly figures in Revolutionary-era attire and unexplained cold spots make this place a must-visit for ghost enthusiasts.
THE AMBER ROSE
Once a home and a general store in the early 1900s, the Amber Rose has been operating as a restaurant with a ghostly reputation. Staff recount incidents like glasses flying off shelves, lights and fans turning on and off mysteriously, and the apparition of Chickee, the original owner's daughter. Paranormal investigations even reveal a male presence haunting the basement.
DAYTON DAILY NEWS BUILDING
Among Dayton's haunted locales is the Dayton Daily News Building. Reports of ghostly encounters include Governor Cox appearing at his desk, requesting solitude. A previous employee, who met a tragic end, is said to cause disturbances on the fourth floor as well. Elevator doors open and close randomly, and eerie noises persist.
Woodland Cemetery, final resting place for prominent Daytonians like the Wright Brothers and Charles Kettering, is a favorite among ghost hunters. Stories range from the playful laughter of Johnny Morehouse and his faithful dog to sightings of a little girl with blonde hair.
NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE
History and aviation enthusiasts visiting this museum may encounter more than just planes. Ghostly voices and moans emanate from aircrafts like the Black Maria, and a pilot from the Korean/Vietnam War era is known to appear. Ghostly apparitions are also seen throughout the museum.
With over 150 years of history, the Victoria Theatre stands as one of Dayton's creepiest and most haunted landmarks. Witness staff reports of ghostly scents, the appearance of long-lost actors, and the presence of a man who tragically ended his own life in the theater.
SINCLAIR COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Blair Hall at Sinclair Community College is known for its spectral residents. Laughter, voices, music, and unexplained tugging sensations are attributed to a ghost named Hamlet.
The old courthouse is a piece of Dayton's history, with ties to trials and a former jail. Paranormal activity, including moans, footsteps, and eerie sensations, is reported inside the courthouse, with the gallows housing lingering spirits.
